Unilever's dove brand plans to launch bottles made of 100 per cent recycled plastic "where technically feasible" in Europe and North America by the end of the year. The new packaging will be used in the brand's core range as well as dove men's care and baby lines.
Dove is also committed to finding solutions where recycling plastic is currently technically impossible, including bottle caps and pump parts.
The move is part of dove's 2025 commitment to reduce plastic waste, which will allow the brand to reduce its use of more than 20,500 tonnes of raw materials a year worldwide.
"At dove, we believe in a more sustainable future -- for our consumers and for our planet. We are passionately committed to being one of the brands that have the greatest impact on plastic waste. We know we're not perfect, but we can't wait.We are trying to make the most positive impact as quickly as possible and encourage others to do the same."
The plan also helps meet unilever's new plastic pledge to halve the amount of raw material used, accelerate the use of recycled plastic and help collect and dispose of more plastic packaging than it sells.
"This is an important step in our efforts to transform the way plastic packaging is produced, used and disposed of," said unilever's chief research and development officer. With this initiative, our goal is to drive the global recycling industry to collect more waste plastic and make more recycled plastic available for use."
100% compostable bottle & tableware life is coming soon.
