The properties of different biodegradable plastics are quite different.
Biodegradable plastics belong to one of the degradable plastics, which can be divided into three categories: photodegradable plastics, biodegradable plastics and photobiodegradable plastics.
Biodegradable plastics is to point to in nature, such as soil and (or) under the condition of sand, and (or) under certain conditions (such as compost), or under the condition of anaerobic digestion, or aqueous medium, and degradation caused by microbial action of the existence of nature, and eventually decomposed into carbon dioxide or (and) methane, water and mineral elements in inorganic salt and new biomass plastic.
The biodegradable plastics include PBAT, PHA, PLA, PCL, PBS and starch-based biodegradable plastics.Among them, starch-based biodegradable plastics can be used as plastic film, packaging materials, food containers, etc., due to its relatively simple production and low cost, and its market application is the largest.
Driven by the "plastic restriction order", there is a huge space for biodegradable plastics to replace the market
In order to further standardize the market of degradable plastic products, China has continuously issued policies in recent years to further standardize the degradable products including biodegradable plastics. On the one hand, we will severely crack down on illegal commercial criminals, and on the other hand, we will strengthen policy support, financial and tax support for enterprises producing degradable plastic products. In 2004, the National People's Congress adopted the law on renewable energy (draft) and the law on the prevention and control of environmental pollution by solid waste (revised), encouraging the use of renewable biomass energy and the widespread application of degraded plastics. In 2007, The General Office of the State Council issued the notice of The General Office of the State Council on restricting the use of plastic shopping bags in production and sales, implementing the paid use of plastic shopping bags.In 2017, all biodegradable materials were included in the 13th five-year plan for scientific and technological innovation in the field of materials.Biodegradable plastics were listed in the list of encouraged industries in April 2019.
Since the implementation of China's "plastic ban" in 2008, the demand for biodegradable plastics in China has maintained a high and stable growth trend. From 2011 to 2018, the demand for biodegradable plastics in China grew by about 12%.In November 2015, jilin province became the first province in China to completely ban non-degradable plastic bags and tableware. In February 2019, the hainan provincial government issued the implementation plan for a complete ban on the production, sale and use of disposable non-degradable plastics in hainan province. China's compulsory ban on plastics has been gradually promoted, and the market demand has a great space to rise.In 2018, the market size of biodegradable plastics in China was about 42,000 tons.
